(A) Increase file size
(B) Save time and reduce errors
(C) Delete data
(D) Change formatting
Verified Answer • Option (B) NIOS-aligned
Ans. (B) Save time and reduce errors

[23 Marks]
Q. 18 Presentation • Basics & Normal View
[2 Marks]

Option A: Write the definition of Presentation. Name any two presentation software.

OR

Option B: Explain any two features of normal view.

Option A Answer
Ans. A presentation is a set of slides or visual material arranged to communicate ideas, information or a message to an audience in a clear and interesting way. Two presentation software examples are Microsoft PowerPoint and OpenOffice/LibreOffice Impress.
Option B Answer
Ans. In Normal View, PowerPoint divides the working area into three main sections: the current-slide pane, the Outline pane on the left, and the Notes pane at the bottom. The view is mainly used for creating and editing slides, and each pane can be resized. NIOS describes these three sections explicitly. [NIOS lesson 9]
Q. 19 Computer Basics • Memory Unit
[2 Marks]

Verified Answer • Definition + Types NIOS-aligned
Ans. The Memory Unit is the part of a computer that stores data and instructions for processing and future use. In the standard classification, computer memory is broadly divided into primary memory and secondary memory. Primary memory includes RAM and ROM and is directly used by the CPU; secondary memory includes storage such as hard disks/SSDs and is used for long-term data storage. NIOS defines the Memory Unit as the unit used to store data and instructions. [NIOS Lesson 1]

Q. 22 Excel • Merge Cells
[2 Marks]

Option A: What is Merge Cells in Excel?

OR

In NIOS Excel material, the related Merge and Center command is included among worksheet-formatting tools. [NIOS Lesson 7]
Option B Answer
Ans. Merge Cells is used mainly to present information neatly, especially when a heading or title should extend across multiple columns. NIOS states that installed themes provide different backgrounds and text formatting to begin a presentation. [NIOS Lesson 9]
Q. 25 Mail Merge • Long Answer
[4 Marks]

Option A: What is Mail Merge in word processing? What are the types of documents that can be generated in Mail Merge?

OR

Option B: What is mail merge? Discuss the various components of mail merge.

Option A Answer
Ans. Mail Merge is a word-processing facility used to create many personalised documents from one standard document by combining a common text with variable data such as names and addresses. The main document remains largely the same while the individual recipient information changes. NIOS lists these mail-merge document types: Letters, E-Mail Messages, Envelopes, Labels and Directory. The process can use a data source such as a Word table, Excel worksheet or other database/list. [NIOS Lesson 5]
Option B Answer
Ans. Mail Merge combines a standard document with recipient-specific information to create personalised output. Its three main components are: (1) Main Document - contains the fixed text and graphics that remain the same for each recipient; (2) Data Source - contains the variable fields such as name, address, city, PIN and other recipient details; and (3) Merge Document - the final personalised document produced after the data fields are inserted into the main document. NIOS describes this three-document structure explicitly. [NIOS Lesson 5]
